In the wake of the cancellation of the many PlayStation Vita games, developer and publisher EastAsiaSoft took to Twitter to assure fans that "Rainbow Skies" will still be pushed for Vita. The studio's announcement follows the questionable release date for the game, but EastAsiaSoft was quick to update fans of its status.

"Rainbow Skies" has been given a 2017 release window and, according to PlayStation Lifestyle, the game was 85 percent complete in December. It will have a digital launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, although the physical release for the PS3 is still vague at the moment.

"We looked into a physical PS3 release of Rainbow Skies but unfortunately it looks very unlikely at the moment," EastAsiaSoft said. "We would need to change a lot to make the game run from disc. Not impossible but compared to PS4/Vita, it's a ton of extra work and most likely not worth it." The studio also answered some fan queries over at Twitter, saying that a PS3 physical version would entail additional months of work because the load times are different.

Game cancellation announcements while they are being developed are not new in the gaming community; but it never fails to break hearts, even if a certain game's audience isn't at all remarkable. "Tekken X Street Fighter" was also cancelled in April 2016 -- an example of fantastic looking game that never saw a release.

Numerous reasons have been stated by developers and publishers over the years, such as poor management of funds, company acquisitions or the game just never coming together. It is unfortunate, but not every game can be successful in today's market.

On a positive note, it is refreshing that a studio made an announcement of the game being pushed for the Vita. Fans of "Rainbow Skies" definitely have something to look forward to this 2017, as promised by EastAsiaSoft itself.
