Samsung Gear S3 Update: Smartwatch Gets Companion iOS App

Samsung has released the newest update for its flagship smartwatch-the Samsung Galaxy Gear S3 smartwatch.The company has revealed that the newest update has something to do with their rival company, Apple. This Samsung S3 smartwatch will have the iOS app, meaning it can also be used by Apple users.

The update was revealed at CES 2017. The Samsung Gear S3 can only be enjoyed by Android users before. But with the new update, the smartwatch is expected to be used by a larger number of consumers now. Fitness fans can also enjoy the Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch now as the health and fitness data can be synced using the Samsung's S Health service.

According to Express, it's not just the Gear S3 which is receiving the new update. Samsung has also released apps for the Gear S3's predecessors, the Gear S2 as well as the Gear Fit. Both devices will now be able to show notifications from the iPhone and send health data to the S Health service.

Also, as reported in Wareable,  it can be recalled that the Gear S3 was released in two versions: the Classic and the Frontier. The Classic version has a luxurious feel attached to it and features a stainless steel body with circular buttons next to the rotating bezel. It is made up of 46mm steel case that weighs 57g. It also comes with Bluetooth/Wi-Fi feature.

The Frontier Gear S3 is made for fitness enthusiasts and adventurous type of people. It has a sporty look and is has a slightly bigger, raised bezel with rectangular textured buttons. It also weighs a bit heavier than the classic version. It comes with a Bluetooth or a standalone LTE. Both versions come with an IP68 water and dust resistant certification and are able to withstand very high and very low temperatures, shock, dust and extreme vibrations.

The new Gear S app is available at the iOS app store for free.
