Samsung Announces Its Foray In Portable PC Gaming Samsung Notebook Odyssey; Everything To Know So Far [VIDEO]
Vinay PatelWhile smartphone lovers continue going berserk over the looming arrival of Samsung's next-generation flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and the successor to the controversy-plagued Note 7, the Galaxy Note 8, the South Korean tech firm has launched its first gaming PC dubbed, the Samsung Notebook Odyssey on Thursday, at CES 2017, along with a Notebook 9 refresh.
The latest 7th Generation Intel Core i7 processor fires up both the Samsung Notebook Odyssey and Note 9 ensuring faster storage and memory. So, Here's a look at what Samsung's first-ever notebook exclusively designed with gaming in mind has to offer.
Up for grabs in 17.3-inch and 15.6-inch models, the Samsung Notebook Odyssey features a slew of refinements in terms of design, leading edge technology and gaming usability making it a far cry from rest of the computers currently available in the market. Taking gaming experiences to a whole new level, the Notebook Odyssey sports jaw-dropping aesthetics and enhanced keyboard to its state-of-the-art display and power-packed performance, according to SamsungNewsroom.
Aside from that, Samsung Notebook Odyssey offers Xbox Play Anywhere, Xbox app as well as the ability to stream Xbox One games to the computer. It will be running on a Windows 10 OS (operating system).
The Samsung Notebook Odyssey draws inspiration from the strength of the legendary dragon, which is quite noticeable in the details of the device's one-of-a-kind design. For instance, the front logo bears a striking resemblance with the eyes of the fabled creature.
Moreover, the Samsung Notebook Odyssey's HexaFlow Vent located at the bottom panel resembles the scales on a dragon's skin. The HexaFlow Vent is basically a cooling and ventilation system that facilitates peak performance even for prolonged gaming sessions. It also keeps device constantly cool.
Under the hood, the Samsung Notebook Odyssey packs latest GeForce GTX 1050 graphic card coupled with a 256GB SSD (solid state drive) and an 8GB of DDR4 memory, The Investor reported.
The model with an i7 processor will be up for grabs for 2 million won, which converts to about $1690. The model equipped with an i5 processor, on the other hand, will sell for 1.8 million won (about $1528). But considering that the laptop won the Innovation Award at the Las Vegas event last week, it could be worth the steep price tag.
