Nokia 8 Leaks: New Photos Reveal What May Possibly Be Nokia’s 2017 Flagship Model [VIDEO]
Rei LantionThe upcoming Nokia 8 is slated to be Nokia's flagship offering this 2017 and several recently leaked photos may be the public's first look at the device. Pictures featuring what is allegedly the new Nokia 8 were released online, and consumers have already started picking them apart for hints to the hardware features and specifications.
Despite the admittedly low quality of the images, there was enough shown in the photo to glean a pretty good stack of information. My Nokia Blog, the site where the pictures were leaked, reports that the phone in the image didn't yield any results during a reverse image search. However, similar images matching up to the phone featured was what led the reporter to believe that this could be Nokia's latest flagship model.
The phone was originally called the Nokia P1, according to GSM Arena, thanks to rumors and consumer speculation. But ever since the release of the Nokia 6, favor has fallen on Nokia 8 as the flagship name.
Nokia 8 Features. Following the specs listed on My Nokia Blog and basing them on the photos themselves, this upcoming model may have a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display and dual front-facing speakers, alongside a LED notification light and no front-mounted physical buttons---at least, none that can be seen. The limited angle doesn't say much about the phone's build, but it's highly possible that Nokia is going for a unibody metal design.
Nokia Cameraphone Series. Given that all the models described as a Nokia cameraphone have had the number 8 in their names such as the N82 and the 808PureView. the Nokia 8 may come with some serious photo-snapping tech.
A close-up of the photo reveals that the camera module has "HRM" written on it. Pocket-Lint posits this could stand for "High Resolution Monochromatic" which means the phone could be capable of capturing monochrome data, similar to the Huawei P9. More photos can be seen on the original post.
Lack of an official statement from Nokia on the Nokia 8 as its 2017 flagship model and its release date means the features and specs are merely theories. Regardless, Nokia continues to play the smartphone game strongly, and its flagship model remains highly anticipated.
