Xbox One News: Microsoft Confirms Three New Titles Under Xbox One Backwards Compatibility, Games With Gold January 2017 Update
Rei LantionDuring the Christmas holidays, Xbox Head Phil Spencer wrote that January looked pretty good for backwards compatibility. True to his word, seven new titles were revealed by Community Manager Larry Hryb last Tuesday, January 10th.
Top-quality games on the list have gotten fans hyped up, with premium Xbox 360 classics like "Dragon Age Origins" and "Battlefied 3" having made the cut. Following their big launch from earlier this week, Microsoft reveals three more titles available under backwards compatibility.
Three Titles Confirmed. Hryb once again broke the news via Twitter. According to Express, fans can now play classic Xbox 360 games "Mega Man 9," "Mega Man 10" and "Beat'n Groovy" on their Xbox One systems via backwards compatibility.
Ten Games In Total. The announcement for these three new titles followed Microsoft's big reveal last Tuesday of seven backwards compatibility games. That is a total of ten new Xbox 360 games for players to enjoy.
The titles included "Dragon Age Origins," "Battlefield: Bad Company 2" and "Battlefield 3." Other games that made it to the list included "Scrap Metal," "Strania," "The Splatters" and "Ghostbusters."
Some titles, like "Battlefield 3," and "Dragon Age Origins," were popular picks chosen by players on the official Backwards Compatibility polling website. "Battlefield 3" netted 50,000 votes while "Battlefield: Bad Company 2" got 40,000. "Dragon Age Origins" scored third with a total of 30,000 votes.
While it wasn't part of the ten new games announced, "Call of Duty" titles dominated the polls' top ten results. Fans are eager for CoD to join the ranks of other first-person shooter games like the "Bioshock" trilogy. According to Daily Star, players looking to try out these games can download them via the Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility section in the Xbox Store.
For consumers who already own a copy of these games, the backwards compatibility version should automatically show up in gamers' Xbox One game library.
