Gabe Newell, the co-founder and president of Valve and PC gaming cult icon, has undergone an AMA on The Gaben subreddit on January 17, at 3 pm Pacific time. Here are the details.

On "Half-Life"/"Portal"

Gabe Newell spent a good deal of the fan-hosted interview proficiently evading questions with the expertise of a businessman. A few questions inspired the famous industry figure to give us the glimpse into the future of Valve. Gabe Newell's most interesting answer was just a single word. When he was asked if Valve is currently working on any single-player games, Gabe Newell answered with a quick yes.

Half-jokingly, he reminded that "The number 3 must not be said." This left a ray of hope on the possibility of "Half-Life 3" or "Portal 3." Gabe Newell stated in the AMA that Valve has plans to develop future projects that would take place in the "Half-Life" or "Portal" universe, says PCGamesn.

This statement, however, has general inferences, according to Den Of Geek. One is that Valve released a Portal-themed VR game to go along with the launch of the HTC Vive. Moreover, Newell believes that there is still hope for the JJ Abrams-assisted "Portal" and "Half-Life" film project that has been teased for some time now. However, he provided no updates on those films.

"Left 4 Dead"

When asked about "Left 4 Dead," he indicated an interest in the franchise based on how it equals Valve's creative philosophy but did not confirm or deny any development on the official franchise follow-up. Whatever Valve is working on, Newell is definite that the company would use the Source 2 engine to develop them. He even hinted that the company could update "Team Fortress 2" and "CS: GO" to utilize the new engine.

Newell also disclosed that Valve took away the flash sale system from Steam sales for users to find the best deal every time they visit. He acknowledged the Steam customer support issues that have weighed down the service in the past. He said he is excited to expand Valve's VR interests.
