"Clash of Clans" maker Supercell is calling on players to change their forum password as the game Forum Service has been hacked. Reports claimed that more than one million accounts were affected by the illegal access. Continue reading below to learn more details about the security breach.

The mobile game developer confirmed in an official forum announcement that third-party hackers were able to illegally obtain user information such as emails and encrypted passwords. Though Supercell did not reveal the number of users that were compromised, a report by Venturebeat claimed that it reached more than one million according to third party sources LeakBase and Motherboard.

For this reason, it is strongly recommended for account holders to change their passwords immediately to avoid any security issues. It also highly advisable for players to reset their passwords in other systems where they used similar logins.

Supercell wrote, "As a general guideline, matching credentials should not be used on multiple sites." So players, please reset passwords now, which can be done here.

The creator of "Clash of Clans" also made it clear that the breach began in September 2016 according to its initial investigation. However, the company claimed that it was already fixed since then. It also clarified that the hackers were only able to access the Forum Service and not the players' game accounts.

The software vbulletin.com is what the game developer uses to provide its forum service, which is now apparently being blamed for the incident. Supercell did not elaborate on how its Forum Service was infiltrated by hackers, however. But needless to say, the company has already looked into the vulnerability and apologized to players for the inconvenience it had caused.
