"The Division" is having its film adaption and Ubisoft Motion Pictures just shared that they have recruited great people for the project. The film company proudly announced on Jan. 19 that award-winning director Stephen Gaghan has joined them and he will be working as the movie's writer and director.

"The Division," one of the newest but fast-rising video game, will soon be on the big screen and it will feature Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain in the leading roles. Ubisoft informed fans about their plans of making the movie last year and the news was met with good feedback.

The actors have been selected as well and this was confirmed by Ubisoft Motion Picture's chief executive Gerard Guillemot. In a statement, GameSpot quoted the chief as saying, "We are excited to collaborate with Jessica and Jake, two of Hollywood's most talented actors and perfect creative collaborators to help bring Tom Clancy's The Division to the big screen."

Variety mentioned that the "Brokeback Mountain" actor also expressed excitement over his next acting project. "I'm excited to work with Ubisoft Motion Pictures and collaborate with their team at Massive Entertainment to bring ‘The Division' to the big screen, Gyllenhaal said.

Meanwhile, "The Division" new director Gaghan is an Academy Award winner for his writing work for Steven Soderbergh's year 2000 film "Traffic." He was also nominated for screenplay and directing "Syriana" in 2005.

Gaghan's profile boasts of awards and nominations from reputable award giving bodies including the Emmy's, Golden Globe, Writers Guild of America and the Academy Award. His latest venture is a directorial stint for Matthew McConaughey's flick titled "Gold", which is set to premiere on Jan 27.

"The Division" is the film version of Tom Clancy's massively popular video game that is set in New York City. The original game is one of Ubisoft's best creations and certainly, the most successful title. In the first five days after release, it already went past the $330 million mark in sales so it was tagged as the fastest-selling game ever.
