"Toriko" fans may have missed their favorite gourmet series but fortunately, creator Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro is set to release a new one-shot gag manga this year. It's not said, however, whether the upcoming manga will be a spinoff or a continuation of the hit series.

A report by Anime News Network already confirmed that Shimabukuro is working on a 'Toriko" gag manga back in 2016. However, no reports followed the development of the gag manga since then.

For this reason, it's unclear yet if the comedic manga will be a new story based on "Toriko" or will the creator just continue the main character's journey in space. Needless to say, manga enthusiasts are apparently excited to read the adventures in this gourmet manga series again this year.

To quickly recap the finale of "Toriko," the author showed what happened to the lives of the main characters of the manga that include Komatsu, Take, Ume and Toriko himself after the big wedding. For the uninitiated, Toriko and Rin got married and their wedding was witnessed by almost all of their friends.

The last chapter also revealed that everyone is doing well and have fulfilled what they want in their lives. However, Toriko's journey to find gourmet ingredients is not yet over. Being quite so sure that there are more ingredients waiting to be discovered in the universe, he traveled to space with Komatsu.

It's a surprising journey in space as both of them saw a large supply of gourmet ingredients, some they have never tasted before. The manga series ended with Toriko and Komatsu continuing their adventures in space.

"Toriko" gag manga will reportedly come out this April according to a report by The Bitbag. The new series is set to come out with the May 2017 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine.
