‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ To Make Side-Quests Matter, Taking Cues From ‘The Witch 3: Wild Hunt’; ‘Mass Effect: Discovery’ Comic Gathers Hype
Ritwik RoyIf latest reports are to be believed, "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is taking a lot of inspiration from "The Witcher." In fact, it's taking more cues from it than "Dragon Age: Inquisition." Earlier reports had indicated the game taking cues from the latter, another BioWare fantasy series that took a few setbacks in the past. "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" is probably more apt and "Mass Effect: Andromeda" producer Fabrice Condominas has revealed that BioWare wants its side-quests to be mattering again.
According to Techno Buffalo, "Mass Effect: Andromeda" side missions are more popular than the main stories, especially in "Mass Effect 2" where the loyalty missions of crew members often did better than the main story. Without these, the overall story would have looked a bit shallow and mundane. The reason why side missions are popular is that they get into a character's motivations, general personalities and also back stories. The fact that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" was taking a few pages from "Dragon Quest: Inquisition," made many unhappy.
This is because of the direction the fantasy franchise took as it took more of the "Borderlands" route where players were required to carry out countless, pointless tedious missions to gain more experience points. This became a turn-off for many. BioWare is aware of the setbacks and hence is probably turning to "The Witcher". It hopes the difference will pay off. "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will be released on Mach 21 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Meanwhile, the "Mass Effect: Andromeda" comic, "Mass Effect: Discovery" will take readers inside the strange Andromeda Initiative.
According to Polygon, "Mass Effect: Discovery" will be made available from April 12 as BioWare will publish the first expansion on the plot of the much-anticipated game. The comic book will take fans through the story of a Turian soldier who goes undercover in the Andromeda Initiative, which is a private multi-species coalition that wants to travel to the Andromeda galaxy. Stay tuned on Mobile & Apps for more updates on "Mass Effect: Andromeda."
