TWRP Is Now Available For HTC U Ultra, Plus The Smartphone Is Set To Launch In India Feb. 21
Cris Xander JulianoAn unofficial version of the TWRP is now ported for the HTC U Ultra by XDA Developer @Captain_Throwback. In Addition, the aforementioned high-end smartphone by HTC is set to launch in India on Feb. 21.
According to Android Authority, the ported custom recovery for the HTC U Ultra is not an official version by TWRP thus no guarantees that it will work exactly as intended. However, you may install the TWRP 3.0.3-1 on your U Ultra the minute you unbox the device. A known issue of the custom recovery is the reboot recovery option, which is not yet functional. However, this will be fixed once developers have access to the kernel source.
TWRP is a custom recovery which allows you to back up your device similar to a system restore on a PC. The recovery also allows you to install custom ROMS that are available for your device. This is used by advanced users of Android and should never be installed without prior knowledge as it may brick your device if improperly handled. Otherwise, you may check the custom recovery here.
Moreover, HTC is expected to launch the U Ultra in India on Feb. 21 according to a report by Indian Express. The company sent out press invites which clearly mentions the launch of the device for the Indian market.
HTC U Ultra's unique feature is the narrow 2-inch touchscreen at the top of the device, above its main 5.7-inch 2560 x 1440 display. The secondary display allows you to customize shortcuts for apps, contacts, notifications as well as reminders. It is also designed to work with HTC's Sense AI.
The device comes with four color variants; blue, pink, black and white. The smartphone features the HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi- speakers, although the company drops its 3.5mm headphone jack and instead ships with a set of HTC USonic earphones.
The smartphone will run the Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with a Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB of RAM, USB Type-C support and a 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charging 3.0.
