'Kingdom Hearts 3' Release Date Remains Unconfirmed As Square Enix Reveals New Screenshot Featuring Sora vs. Heartless [VIDEO]
Vinay PatelSquare Enix is leaving no stone unturned in the bid to keep the hype surrounding "Kingdom Hearts 3" alive. In line with this, the game developer gave fans that have been restlessly waiting for "KH3," a brief glimpse at the long rumored RPG in the form of a new screenshot.
Game director Tetsuya Nomura unveiled the said screenshot at MAGIC (Monaco Anime Game International Conferences) 2017, which kicked off Feb. 21. The recently divulged image gives fans a peek at the realm of Hercules, one of the worlds that will be highlighted in the game.
This is the first time the image has been made public, Nomura told Gameblog.fr (via Gematsu) during the event. Shedding more light on the screenshot, he explained that it's taking place in Thebes and they are squaring off against a never-before-seen model of the Heartless.
As far as the Keyblade is concerned, it can be transformed into a slew of other things including a shield (as shown in the screenshot). It also turns into a chariot. This is called Power Form, he added. This screenshot is the first teaser for "Kingdom Hearts 3."
It's worth noting that the last detail for "KH3" surfaced many a moon ago -- back in October, to be precise. Square Enix teased the game on Twitter by sharing two screenshots from the game at the time.
The studio allowed the huge "Kingdom Hearts" fanbase to take a gander at a newfangled Drive Form dubbed as the Guard Form, which turns the main character's Keyblade into the Herc's Shield. The second screenshot featured another new form that the company opted to keep under wraps.
Since this keyblade hailed from a yet-to-be-released world, this power form was edited and as a result, it transformed into a hammer shape, according to a tweet from "Kingdom Hearts" official Twitter account.
It's no secret that "Kingdom Hearts 3" is not likely to hit the store shelves anytime soon. Nomura confirmed this last month during an interview with Famitsu (via KH13). He attributed the delayed launch to a comparatively different production process. Nevertheless, he said the game will boast worlds that have never been explored before.
Moreover, the game developer is still hard at works on the production of undisclosed worlds, so their decision to keep it with a lid on actually makes a lot of sense. In terms of development status, Nomura noted that there's still a long way to go.
