Mobile World Congress 2017: Xperia XZ Premium, LG G6 & Huawei P10 Prove Headphone Jack In Android Phones Will Continue!
Catherine G.2016 was a historic year for the earphone jack. Apple removed the jack from iPhone 7- a move that initially was ridiculed to a great extent. Many memes were published and much fun was poked but eventually, users got used to the AirPods and modified earphones. It seemed that the rest of the smartphone industry would also be following suit by dropping the headphone jack completely.
However, the Mobile World Congress has dismissed all such rumors and speculations. Android smartphone industry will not get aboard this fad train- a fact attested to by most of the leading manufacturers. They intend to keep the 3.5mm headphone jack right as it is for their upcoming smartphones.
Yahoo! News first identified this common piece of information among the big announcement that was made at MWC 2017. The announcements basically suggested that the phones will all have a headphone jack. "The headphone jack isn't going anywhere," opined Rob Pegoraro in his article. However, the threat of the headphone jack being dropped continues to be a part and parcel of the future times.
Of course, the event of that happening has been delayed for some time! This confirmation came after three important and flagship launches were announced at the MWC. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium, LG G6, and the Huawei P10- all these three phones still have the headphone jack. Not just these phones, even the BlackBerry KeyOne is going to have the jack. The Nokia 3, 5, and 6 (powered by Android) also feature a universal audio connector.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is also (most certainly) launching at the end of this month with a headphone jack. However, HTC's Ultra line phones come without the headphone jack and even Huawei suggested that another of its phone will drop the headphone jack. iPhone's sales figures haven't been dented by this development and even the Moto Z doesn't contain the jack. This means that this trend is here to stay and may pick up further in the coming times.
