Temple Run is one of the most popular apps on Google Play, and the much-anticipated sequel is bound to be a great hit as well.

The sequel, Temple Run 2, comes from Imangi Studios and Fuzzycube Software. According to the folks over at Android Community, who have spoken with the app's creators, Temple Run 2 is ready to hit the Google Play store in just a few days, on Jan. 24.

"We've gotten confirmation from the developers of this game that the projected date for delivery to the Google Play app store for Temple Run 2 is January 24th, a bit over a week after the iOS launch for iPhone 5 and the iPad series," reported Android Community.

Temple Run 2 for iOS launched last week and it took less than 12 hours to surge to the top of the charts. If this is any indication, the Google Play store will have a new top app soon enough.

The sequel builds on the great success of Temple Run and keeps all of the qualities of the original game. It does, however, provide higher quality aesthetics in both moving elements and environments through which the player will be running.

While built on the same concept as the original version, Temple Run 2 adds a few new locations in addition to improved game graphics, and also brings some new additions to its character club.

The Temple Run 2 game is expected to be at least equally addictive as the original game, and the game trailer video indicates that it will. be equally gripping The view in the video is from the aspect ratio of a wide display, most likely some type of tablet. The other view of the game is basically the same as the wide one, but offers a bit less of a view on the left or right.

With all the hype surrounding the game, some fake Temple Run 2 apps for Android have already emerged and fooled a lot of users. One fake version in particular, called (hold your breath) Temple Run 2, sparked a whopping 3,000 reviews, and Google eventually removed it from the Play Store.

Remember that Temple Run 2 for Android will not hit the Google Play store until Jan. 24 at the earliest, so any versions already available are likely fake. Look for the original game from Imangi Studios, and only download apps from trusted sources.
