Apple's next-generation iPhone is likely to debut sometime between June-August this year and there is an unexplainable excitement over the specifications and features of the upcoming product. While we are yet to receive a solid report on what Apple would call its next flagship smartphone, iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, a fresh rumor has it that the device will come with a smart stylus in the likes of Samsung Galaxy Note or Note 2 S-Pens.
While it adds a new buzz to the excitement of Apple crazy masses, the news should be taken with a healthy pinch of salt as the report is sourced from The Sun, which is not really a technology news website. "Apple's new iPhone 6 could come with a Smart Pen, according to the rumor mill. The U.S. firm have apparently just filed three patents for such a stylus accessory," the report states.
The report also notes that the stylus could be used as a mini-scanner to read barcodes and can even be used for specific motion gesture passwords to open iDevices. If rumors are to be believed, the stylus will shortly be rolled out in future versions of Apple's other devices such as the iPad and iTouch.
According to one of the patents, the stylus, known as Identifiable Stylus, is enabled with the ability to open the most used app on your Apple device. The stylus will automatically turn on and off in accordance to movement with the aid of accelerometer.
It should be noted that Samsung Galaxy S4 was initially rumored to feature a stylus which was later found to be a wrong information. While the iPhone stylus news is based on the patents filed, it could also be that Apple is preparing another round of patent war against Samsung note line-up.
Meanwhile, recent reports indicate that the production of iPhone 5S is already underway at a Foxconn facility. The next-generation iPhone is being manufactured along the same assembly lines as its predecessor as both the devices share substantially similar design. The report was a close follow up to earlier rumors about the release date of the device. While iMore's Rene Ritchie speculated that Apple will release the iPhone 5S sometime in August this year, KGI Securities' analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted the release date of iPhone 5S to be in June.
