Apple has brought its fourth-generation iPad and iPad mini onto its Refurbished Store for the first time, giving discounts in the range of $30-$40 on the mini, and $50 on iPad 4 models.
As the refurbished models hit the Apple online store, iDevice fans get the opportunity to pick up an Apple tablet for a little less than the full selling price. However, availability remains an issue, as the store currently has an extremely limited selection.
The Refurbish Store offers the entry-level 16GB Wi-Fi only version of the fourth-generation iPad for $449, which is $50 less than a brand new model, while the refurbished 32GB Wi-Fi + cellular version is priced at $679. Apple has not featured a refurbished model of the entry level iPad mini at this point in time. The Wi-Fi-only model of 32GB iPad Mini can be grabbed for a modest $389 currently. The cheapest refurbished model of iPad mini is priced at $429. The iPad mini refurbs offered currently will net you a discount of around $30-$40.
It's worth grabbing a refurbished Apple tablet, as they are no less than the fresh models coming out of Apple factories. These reworked models come with the same one-year warranty as other brand-new products in addition to a brand-new battery and new outer shell, which apparently make them hardly distinguishable from the brand new variants.
It should be noted that the refurbished models are often sold out quickly in the Apple store and it's advised you act fast if you see the model that you want.
As the refurbished models of iPad mini arrive, the focus naturally shifts to the next-generation iPad mini, unofficially dubbed iPad mini 2. Although a couple of rumors have been doing the rounds about the tablet, a recent leak has provided a proof of what's coming.
Pictures of the rear panel of an Apple device have surfaced on the Internet and the panel is believed to be on the upcoming iPad mini 2. The leaked image shows a panel that is quite similar to that of the current iPad mini. However, the panel looks a little thicker than the first-generation iPad mini, and some do link the thickness of the panel with Retina Display while others think it's due to an advanced battery.
