Telus promised an Android Jelly Bean upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy Note awhile ago, and now it's making good on its promise.
Samsung Galaxy note owners on Telus can now upgrade their devices to Android Jelly Bean and enjoy all the goodies that come with the software upgrade.
According to a How To page on Telus' website, the Android Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy Note will be available both over the air (OTA) and via the Samsung Kies software. The first option, the OTA update, is likely the easiest to use, but if it's not available yet, users can resort to Kies to grab the update.
To get the OTA update, tap Menu from the phone's Home screen. Select Settings > About device, check the Android version currently installed and update the firmware if the smartphone is running on Android 4.1.2 or older.
To update the firmware via Samsung Kies, first make sure Kies is downloaded and installed. To do so, launch the Web browser on your computer and visit the Samsung Kies support page. From there, click Download for Windows or Download for Mac OS and save the file (in case you don't already have Samsung Kies installed). Once the download is complete, double-click the file to launch the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the software. While the software is installing on your computer, watch the Kies Tutorial to learn how to backup and update your smartphone.
It's always nice to see carriers who keep their promises to customers. Telus promised the Samsung Galaxy Note Jelly Bean update for the month of May. The month just started, and the update is already available.
Samsung Galaxy Note users on Telus, however, are not the only ones to get a Jelly Bean upgrade. AT&T Galaxy Note users got the update awhile ago, getting Android Jelly Bean and all its cool features, including the popular Google Now.
If the Android Jelly Bean for the Telus Samsung Galaxy Note is not yet available OTA, users can either wait for the notification or follow the steps above and install it via Samsung Kies.
