Microsoft has a YouTube app for Windows Phone in the store, but this particular application just directs the user to the official YouTube Web app, so it is practically a waste of time. However, that is all about to change with the new update that turns it into a full-blown application with a ton of new features.
The application has been completely redesigned from the ground up to take advantage of the features offered by Windows Phone 8. This is one of the few Windows Phone 8 apps that does not have a similar design style to MetroTube and or SuperTube, and that's one of the reasons why this bad boy is unique and worth trying out.
Most of the features this new YouTube app brings to the table is nothing we've never seen before in third-party applications. But that's alright, what matters is that Microsoft is showing signs of taking things into its own hands, since Google has no interest in officially bringing over its apps to the Windows Phone platform.
What's new?
-Pin videos, playlists, channels, and even search queries to Start as Live Tiles for fast access. The tile flips to show either the latest video from your subscriptions or the most popular one.
-A new and innovative playlist design gives you easy access to videos using a touch-friendly filmstrip.
-Just want to listen to a video? It now plays in the background even when the screen is locked.
-You can share videos to popular social networks, and via email and text.
-Let your kids watch safe videos in Kid's Corner and keep their own profiles
-Manage your YouTube profile with your unique My YouTube page
We took the app for a spin, and after a few minutes watching the third Man of Steel trailer, we can officially say this is no doubt the best YouTube app available for Windows Phone 8.
