Apple's Two-Step Verification Reaches More Countries

Shailesh Shrivastava

Apple Inc. is becoming more cautious about the security of its customers and as the result; the Cupertino-based company has started rolling out its two-step verification feature for My Apple ID in some more countries.

The company started the two-step verification in U.S., UK, New Zealand and Australia back in March following a security glitch related to the iCloud and Apple ID accounts.

Going forward, Apple has now updated this feature for users in some more countries, according to a report from 9to5Mac.

"Today we've confirmed that Canadian users now have access to the feature, while we've also received tips from users in Argentina & Pakistan signaling that the feature is beginning to roll out in other countries as well," the report adds.

The twitter account of the tech website gets many replies on its tweet about the news in which many users from other countries such as Netherlands, Russia, Austria, Brazil and Mexico have also confirmed the arrival of the security feature.

What is two-step verification for Apple ID?

Two-step verification is a security feature for your Apple ID. It requires you to verify your identity using one of your devices before you can:

* Sign in to My Apple ID to manage your account.

* Make an iTunes, App Store, or iBookstore purchase from a new device.

* Get Apple ID-related support from Apple.

* Turning on two-step verification reduces the possibility of someone accessing or making unauthorized changes to your account information at My Apple ID or making purchases using your account.

Apple had this option of verifying the identity of the real user by asking the user to use one of the Apple devices for an authentication code via SMS or Find my iPhone application.

Many users find this verification a tedious job as they will have to go through a long process in order to reset their password. Users are more concerned about the situation in which they will not have access to their iPhone and they might end up getting no access to their Apple ID account.
