If you are a Windows Phone 8 users, then it is possible you might have realized that backing up your images and videos to SkyDrive doesn't work in the way you would have liked. For many, images and videos does not upload in the full resolution, which can be a problem.
The only way one could upload full resolution images and videos to SkyDrive, was to use the official SkyDrive app, but doing so is tedious when the built-in solution is so much easier. Fortunately, Microsoft has acknowledged this problem and is working on an update that should make everything, as it should from the beginning.
The option for uploading full resolution images and videos to SkyDrive, has been around since day one, however, it was only enabled for selected markets, which is quite strange since SkyDrive is available to everyone. Still, Microsoft explained why it chose to go this route of restricting some features, and it makes sense when you really think about it. However, it should be the choice of the user to determine what they want, Microsoft need to keep that mind.
"As you can imagine, backing up high-res photos and videos involves a lot of data. To ensure we could provide a quality experience in each market, we deliberately took things slow and planned a staged roll out of the feature," says Microsoft in a blog post.
Now that the choice is in your hands to do whatever you want, you must first consider if this feature is for you. Uploading high resolution images and videos does not bode well for capped or Internet connection, so unless you want to have errors with uploads or having to wait until a few weeks before your files are available on SkyDrive, you might want to cut down a bit or find a super fast Wi-Fi hotspot.
