A white version of the Nexus 4 just leaked online ahead of the Google I/O big event, again prompting speculation of what Google might unveil.
While the popular smartphone leaked in white clothing before, this is the first time that a report claims it actually is available for sale.
According to CNET, Google+ user Ervin Sue posted images of his brand new white Nexus 4, which he purchased from a "local buy and sell Web site." The user did not reveal any other details about the handset, but this is the first time news surfaces about a white Nexus 4 available for sale.
As CNET points out, the white version of the smartphone looks similar to the original Nexus 4 (available only in black). The purportedly new model has only the sides and rear in white and sports the same sparkly, pixelated pattern as the original Nexus 4. The publication further notes that the picture's EXIF data is available as well, showing that the posted images were taken with a Samsung Galaxy Y and a Nexus 4.
While there is no clear proof that Google will introduce a white Nexus 4 at its 2013 I/O conference, the leaked images again prompted wide speculation. Previous rumors indicated that instead of the widely-expected Nexus 5 smartphone, Google could in fact unveil a new version of the Nexus 4, this time with LTE and 32GB of internal storage.
Assuming that such rumors are true and Google does plan to introduce a revamped Nexus 4, this new white Nexus 4 model cloud be it. On the other hand, why would it go on sale before its official unveiling? Could this indeed be the Nexus 4 LTE model?
The rumor mill has been churning at full speed as the Google I/O conference rapidly approaches, and numerous reports try to anticipate what goodies Google will unveil. While some believe the white model is the revamped, another theory may seem more likely. Every year, Google I/O attendees get free hardware, so this white version might be some sort of special edition for developers attending the show. Last year, for instance, Google gave away white Nexus 7 tablets at the conference.
