Microsoft Xbox 360 is the top selling video game home console in the U.S. for the consecutive 29th month, in May. However, the Nintendo 3DS managed to outsell it to become the top selling gaming device for the month. That's not surprising, and it should continue like this for quite some time as new 3DS games prepare to go on sale.

For the month of April, Microsoft managed to sell 130,000 Xbox 360 units, however, that number slipped in the month of May to 114,000, further adding flame to proof that the gaming industry is spiraling downwards and only the next generation of consoles possess the power to save the industry from total mess.

However, Nintendo got the last laugh as the 3DS outsold the Xbox 360 in the U.S., though Nintendo failed to release hard numbers to back up this claim, according to GamesIndustryBiz.

"Nintendo's 3DS edged out the 360 as the top selling platform across hardware and portables. However, the 360 was the top selling console hardware platform this month for the twenty-ninth consecutive month," said NPD analysts Liam Callahan. "The 3DS had the best year-over-year trending for hardware units, with units sales essentially flat from last May."

The NPD report also talked about the top 10 games, and it came as no surprise to see Injustice: Gods Among Us doing well.
