HTC One ownwers in the UK can expect to get an update to the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean anytime now, as HTC has started rolling out the firmware.
This update in the UK follows the rollout in select European markets earlier in the month. HTC did say that it would push an aggressive rollout of the Android 4.2.2 update and now the company made good on its promise.
In the UK, the company confirmed the HTC One Android update on its @HTC_UK Twitter account. HTC's post mentioned that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update started rolling out in the UK on Monday, July 15, and invited users to check Menu > Settings > About > Software Updates > Check Now. Once the update appears, all users need to do is start the update process to enjoy the latest version of Android.
Users can also choose to wait for the update notification to arrive, bringing the new Jelly Bean over the air (OTA). Either way, UK owners of the HTC One will soon be able to rock the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean/ HTC Sense 5 combo soon, if not already.
Before proceeding to download the update, however, users should make sure they have enough storage space, as well as a stable Wi-Fi connection. The update weighs in at a hefty 416.46MB, which comes after an initial update weighing 1.47MB.
The new Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean should bring enhancements to the launcher bar, a new lockscreen-style widget, a rearranged widget panel, enhanced Home button behavior, as well as more Home button options so users can remove the navigation menu bar. Also on board is an update to see a percentage of the phone's battery level in the status bar. Some notification improvements, meanwhile, include a Quick Settings panel with 12 default settings such as toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and other items. Zoe highlights also get six extra themes and the update also changes the file format as a result of earlier complaints of nearly identical files.
Other changes include Google Now, as a long press of the Home button will now pull up the context menu. A simple upward swipe will launch Google Now.
