Android 4.3 Jelly Bean to hit U.S. HTC One first, roll out by end-September

The much-awaited Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update may arrive to the HTC One in the U.S. first, with the international version set to follow later.

The HTC One is considered one of the best, elegant and high-end Android smartphones currently available on the market. It received high praise for its sleek metal design and top-end specs and features, but its version of the Android operating system was somewhat of a drawback.

HTC released its new flagship smartphone back in March this year and the handset came running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean at launch. Many were wondering why such a high-end smartphone was not rocking the latest version of Jelly Bean, which was Android 4.2 at the time.

After a while the HTC One received an update to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean in some regions, while others were still left waiting for a firmware upgrade. Rumors suggested that Android 4.3 was in the cards and it now seems that the very latest version of Android may arrive on the HTC One in the U.S. first, with the international model of the device set to get the update later on.

Last month, HTC said that the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean version was not a very major update, therefore the company decided to skip it and go straight to the latest Android 4.3 for the regions where the HTC One is yet to get an update.

Famous HTC tipster LlabTooFeR now seems to confirm the update, posting some interesting details on Twitter. According to the tipster, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the HTC One will roll out in two stages, with the first one set to hit the U.S. first with Sense 5.0 in the cards. The second stage, meanwhile, will involve the international version of the smartphone and might bring HTC Sense 5.5.

HTC has not confirmed its Sense 5.5 version yet and LlabTooFeR further notes that the company is being very secretive about this new version of its Android skin. HTC America President Jason Mackenzie, meanwhile, posted some tweets of his own and, responding to a question a few days ago, said that HTC has nothing new to announce regarding the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the HTC One. This means that plans to roll out the latest version of Android remain unchanged. For those not up to date with announcements, Mackenzie said the update would arrive by the end of this month.
