The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update will reportedly roll out to the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini on Canadian carrier Bell starting Saturday, Nov. 23.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is already getting the latest flavor of Jelly Bean in various parts of the world. If this news proves to be accurate, however, Bell will be the first carrier to update the Galaxy S4 Mini to Android 4.3.
Mobile Syrup claims to have obtained a leaked internal document, which reveals that Bell is ready to start pushing out the update to the two Galaxy devices.
"According to an internal Bell doc we received, owners of these Android devices will finally receive the upgrade to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on Saturday, November 23rd," Mobile Syrup reports. "The update includes a number of long-awaited features, most notably Samsung's KNOX security solution, better camera performance, and compatibility with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch."
The publication further notes that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be upgraded to firmware version I337MVLUEMK6, while the Galaxy S4 Mini will be upgraded to firmware version I257MVLUAMK5.
As Mobile Syrup notes, the update will bring much-touted features such as the KNOX security suite and support for Samsung's Galaxy Gear smartwatch, as well as an improved TouchWiz experience, TRIM support, improved RAM usage, OpenGL 3.0, enhanced camera features, and more.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is one of the hottest smartphones of 2013, boasting high-end specs and features worthy of a Samsung flagship. The Galaxy S4 Mini, meanwhile, is a more compact version of the flagship, sporting toned-down specs and a more affordable price tag. An update to Android 4.3 would make both devices more attractive and would add long-awaited features.
Bell has yet to make an official announcement regarding its plans to start rolling out Android 4.3 to the Samsung Galaxy S4 and S4 Mini, so it is advisable to take this news with a grain of salt for now. Other Canadian carriers are also expected to start rolling out the update soon. We'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available.
