AT&T resumes Android 4.3 Jelly Bean rollout for the Samsung Galaxy S4

Alexandra Burlacu

AT&T is resuming its Android 4.3 Jelly Bean rollout for the Samsung Galaxy S4, after previously pulling the update due to some glitches.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean brought a lot of headaches to numerous smartphone owners, causing a bunch of issues on various devices. Samsung pulled the update for its Galaxy S4 because it had many bugs and issues, and the Samsung Galaxy S4 encountered similar problems after the update.

Just recently we reported that AT&T was rolling out the Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update OTA, only to pull the update shortly after due to various glitches. Issues included poor battery life, screen blackouts, inconsistent Wi-Fi connections, and more.

It now seems that those issues have been sorted out, as AT&T is again rolling out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S4. The new build number is 1337UCUEMK2 and the update weighs in at 719MB.

The update is expected to bring a number of neat features and improvements to the Samsung Galaxy S4, including more Samsung apps, the Samsung KNOX security suite, and support for the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The update is available over Wi-Fi only.

Here's the complete changelog for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, as listed by Samsung in its website.

  • Android 4.3 OS upgrade
  • Samsung Galaxy Gear compatibility
  • Group Play 2.5
  • Samsung Apps
  • Knox
  • Drag and drop to uninstall or disable applications
  • Call reliability improvements

The update for the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 is rolling out in the U.S. over the air (OTA). As always with OTA updates, it will roll out gradually, which means that it may take some time to reach all devices. If you haven't received a notification yet, you can manually check for the update by going to Settings > About Device > Software update > Check for updates.

The new build should be considerably better than the Android 4.3 update that was pulled. Either way, if you have a Samsung Galaxy S4 from AT&T and receive the new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, let us know how it fares.
