Motorola's extended Cyber Monday sale for its Moto X off-contract saw huge success on Wednesday, Dec. 4, as the company sold out of the smartphone in just 9 minutes.
The original Cyber Monday sale on Dec. 2 offered the off-contract Moto X for a hefty discount of $150, but Motorola was overwhelmed by demand and its site crashed, leaving numerous consumers frustrated and unable to get the smartphone.
Motorola apologized for the whole Cyber Monday fiasco and announced that it would repeat the promotion on Wednesday, Dec. 4, and again on Monday, Dec. 9. Under this promotion, the company is offering is new Moto X flagship for $349 off-contract, and the discounted price stands for both the Developer and the Moto Maker editions of the smartphone.
While the company's website didn't crash this time, Motorola completely sold out of the Moto X in just 9 minutes after the deal went live on Wednesday, Dec. 4, again leaving many interested buyers without their desired smartphone.
"Thanks for shopping! Moto X is sold out at its promo price today. At noon ET on Mon, 12/9, register for your unique code while supplies last," Motorola announced on its Google+ page.
The Moto X is not a very high-end smartphone in terms of hardware specifications, but it sports great functionality and unique customization options. The Moto Maker service allows customers to personalize their smartphone by choosing the color of the back plates, the accents, engraving a personal message and more, with over 2,000 possible combinations.
Many believed that the smartphone's initial price tag was a bit steep, but Motorola's promotional offer for the Moto X on Cyber Monday proved to be extremely well-received.
If you didn't manage to get a discounted Moto X on Cyber Monday or on Wednesday, Dec. 4, you have one more chance to get the smartphone for this promotional price on Monday, Dec. 9. The handset will most likely sell like hot cakes again, so you might want to hurry if you want to get your hands on the Moto Maker or the Developer Edition of the Moto X for $150 less than its normal price off-contract.
