Android 4.4.4 KitKat rollout schedule leaked for HTC One M8, M7 and others
Alexandra BurlacuThe new HTC One M8 flagship smartphone may start receiving Android 4.4.4 KitKat next month, if newly-surfaced information proves to be accurate.
While Google has not yet released the rumored Android 5.0 Lollipop yet, it now seems that the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is ready to start rolling out to the HTC One M8 soon. The update will also hit the original HTC One (M7), the One E8, and the HTC One Mini 2 later on. Along with the new Android build, the HTC One M8 will also be getting an upgrade to HTC Sense 6.0.
The folks over at the XDA developers have received a leaked update schedule from known tipster and XDA contributor llabtoofer, revealing the Android 4.4.4 release schedule for several HTC devices.
Based on this leaked schedule, it seems that Android 4.4.3, which was set to roll out to the HTC One M7 and M8, will be skipped and these two devices will go straight to the latest Android 4.4.4. The two smartphones will likely get the update sometime between July and August, along with HTC Sense 6.0. The update is also reportedly set to hit devices that were not slated to receive Android 4.4.3 and HTC Sense 6.0, including the HTC One E8, the One Mini 2, and the HTC One dual-SIM, sometime between August and September.
"Regarding Android L, all 2013 and 2014 lines devices should get it, but as we don't know full system requirements of new OS yet, updates are still under evaluation, more details become available in September or October," llabtoofer further adds.
The latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat is expected to bring a number of bug fixes to the above-listed HTC smartphones. Moreover, the update will also reportedly add some important security updates, which will fix a set of potentially serious security vulnerabilities for the handsets.
No exact rollout date is currently available for Android 4.4.4 KitKat, and llabtoofer also points out that this schedule is not final, which means that things could change at any given time. We'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as we hear more details regarding when Android 4.4. KitKat and HTC Sense 6.0 will become available for the HTC One M8, One M8, and other HTC devices. In the meantime, take everything with a grain of salt.
