AT&T has officially started rolling out an update for its LG G3 in the U.S., bringing the smartphone to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop.

LG was one of the very first OEMs to boast plans to update its flagship to the latest version of Android, but the LG G3 in the U.S. has so far been left out of the update process. Back in January, LG said that it's LG G3 would start getting the Lollipop treat "soon" in the U.S., and that moment has now finally arrived.

AT&T is the first U.S. carrier to deliver Android 5.0.1 Lollipop to the LG G3, but more are expected to follow shortly. The update for the AT&T LG G3 comes with build number LRX21Y and software number D85020f, weighing in at 689.53. The rollout started on Tuesday, Feb. 10, and users will receive it via Firmware Over the Air (FOTA) over Wi-Fi only.

Android 5.0.1 will bring a number of neat changes and improvements to the table, including the updated user interface (UI) with Google's Material Design for a cleaner look. In addition to Android 5.0.1, the update will also include Google setup wizard (R2G removed) and stability improvements.

AT&T LG G3 owners will also be able to enjoy new notification options, automatic device encryption, a new drop-down menu for quick settings, improved Internet and Bluetooth connectivity, enhanced battery life, and better security, among others.

As always with OTA updates, keep in mind that the rollout is gradual and it may take a few days for the update to reach all devices.
