The new iPod touch introduces features that combine iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus A8 processor and M8 co-processor, with iPhone 5c's 4/inch display.
Now available for purchase, the new iPod touch offers a 16GB model for the price of 199$. iPod touch incorporates the 4-inch Retina display of iPhone 5. In cost comparison, the new iPod is 350$ cheaper than the 5s. Macworld speculates that, this should make buyers wonder if the iPhone 5s is really worth the purchase, given that they can obtain an iPod with the same features.
The device offers an iOS 8 operating system which allows users to add video and voice to text messages and the predictive text option for quick typing.
The features of iPod touch include, among others, an A8 chip, an 8MP iSight camera and a Retina display. The 4-inch retina display, according to Apple, is suitable for watching HD movies and TV shows, with a 1136x640 resolution.
iPod touch also offers the iTunes store, where one can load songs and with the use of iCloud, everything purchased through the iTunes store is available on other devices for free. The device also offers Apple music in the Music app, according to Apple's official website.
An A8 chip is built on 64/bit architecture and according to Apple, GPU performance is ten times faster than the previous generation of iPod touch, making the graphics more vivid. In addition, six/times faster CPU performance increases battery duration, providing the users with up to 8 hours of video playback and 40 hours of music.
The device also features metal technology, which delivers detailed graphics and visual effects and is used to develop console style games. An M8 Motion Coprocessor uses advanced sensors like an accelerometer and gyroscope, enabling users to track fitness information, including steps and distance.
iPod also offers an iSight-8/megapixel camera and a FaceTime HD camera. The cameras offer features like slow motion mode and burst mode, along with improved reduction and face detection. The photos can be accessed through iCloud Photo Library, a feature that lets you share photos on other devices along with the editing option. The slow motion feature enables the users to shoot videos at 120fps in 720p, in addition to recording and selecting portions of videos the user wishes to slow down.
