'Resident Evil 7': The Strangest Theories About The 'Beginning Hour' Demo
Jazz RosinE3 week is already over, but people are still going crazy about Capcom's "Resident Evil 7" demo "The Beginning Hour."
Still not satisfied with the two endings already revealed, people began to formulate theories surrounding the hidden secrets in the demo.
The 'Aunt Rhody' Song
NeoGAF user Dusk Golem wrote that his girlfriend, who has a history in music, pointed out that there might be a hidden message in the "Aunt Rhody" song in the trailer.
"There's some that just sounds like screams," the forumer continued."But she so far has put together part of the pieces, and it sounds perfectly put together like, 'in the woods'."
The backmasked audio allegedly sounded like someone is saying, "Hello my name is ______(disgruntled sounds). In the woods, can you hear (disgruntled). In the woods, I was (screaming sound)."
Check out the actual backmasked audio here, but first, a warning: it is not for the faint of heart.
VHS Coordinates
In a Reddit post, user Goglabesh said that the numbers at the bottom of the images from the VHS tape (32:48:11 and 91:14:24) correspond to a road in Lake Providence, Lousiana. The user connected this with the newspaper headlines shown in the game, which says, "Ghosts in the Bayou."
With this information, Goglabesh speculates that the location of the game will be in Louisiana.
User mickeywilsonsfx seem to connect the information as well. "If you zoom out a big from the Google Maps location off Hood Road from the house they show here, there's a freaking CANEY BAYOU literally down their road."
Imgur user Xambia actually visited the location to see if there is anything particularly noteworthy. Apart from some abandoned houses along the way, the place is near a town called Transylvania.
Xambia also left a creepy looking doll at the location, just in case someone else wants to check the place out.
The Phone Messages
The three messages on the phone is speculated to describe the different ways to play through the demo, according to Gamesradar.
"Memories hold the truth. Don't let appearances mislead you," seems to tell players to go watch the VHS again, leading to the first discovered ending. However, it could also refer to the picture of the helicopter near the phone, or any of the other pictures strewn around the house.
The second one, "You have the power to choose. But the outcome of that choice may not be what you expect," may refer to ending the demo either on the ground floor or the second floor.
The third one says, "You will have to say goodbye eventually. But will you be ready?" Some people have speculated that this might lead to a third ending, but Gamesradar reported that this might just mean that there is nothing else to see in the demo.
The Ghost Girl in Seven Different Locations
There is a ghostly figure of a girl appearing in the demo in seven different locations. Although it just might signify the sequel number of the game, some people are speculating that it could lead to something else, and is finding a way to trigger her appearances.
The Infamous Severed Finger
Nothing has baffled the internet more than the severed little finger in the demo. Some speculate that it is a key for something, but no one has figured it out yet.
Some people said that the material of the finger is flammable, and could be melted somehow, but there is no apparent way to heat the finger up.
Some users on Reddit went full CSI on that finger and inspected it up close, to no avail.
There are a lot of other crazy theories on Reddit, from bible verses to setting the PS4 clock back. Read them all up here.
