Following the recent release of Samsung Gear Fit 2, a number of those who have tried the device seemed to be disappointed at some point, as they have pointed it out in their review.

Is the newly-released fitness wristband from Samsung Electronics actually a downgrade rather than an upgrade?

Read on to know more about the wearable device.

1. It is a "good kind of compromise."

According to Alex Choros of Cyber Shack noted that while it is both a fitness tracker and a smartwatch, the Samsung Gear Fit 2 is reportedly more of the former rather than the latter.

"The Gear Fit 2 is much more fitness tracker than smartwatch when it comes to aesthetic, making use of the tried and true wristband-style design," he stated.

2. It is chunkier.

With its 1.84-inch display, the new device from Samsung is definitely "a bit chunkier than most wearables." However, with its curve build, the Fit 2 is comfier.

3. Its GPS feature is a plus.

This particular feature has already been omitted in other wearables. Choros hinted that it could be an advantage since its user can easily track the distance he or she has run.

4. The actual battery performance of Samsung Gear Fit 2 is reportedly just half of what has been promised.

While the company announced that the device's battery can last for four to five days, the actual review revealed that "I couldn't get more than two and a half days in between charges."

5. Apps are limited.

Tech reviewer Dan Graziano of CNET stated that in terms of features, the Samsung Gear Fit 2 gets nine out of the perfect score of 10.

He emphasized that it "is like a slimmed-down version of Samsung's Gear S2 smartwatch," as he cited that in order to use Spotify, for instance, "you still need a phone connected to use it."

6. It is surely not designed for serious athletes.

Although Samsung Gear Fit 2 has GPS, Graziano said in his review that "Working out with the Fit 2, however, has been nothing but frustrating," especially that it takes a few minutes (not seconds) for the device to detect internet signal to enable GPS.
