Huawei Taking Over The Next Google Nexus 7: Will This Rule The Tablet Market?
C. de LacyIt's been roughly three years since Google's last Nexus tablet was released in the form of Nexus 7. Rumors and theories indicated, however, that the next Nexus may not actually be named after Nexus and third party manufacturers will be involved.
Since last year, rumors regarding the next Nexus 7 or something that will follow the 2013 Google Nexus 7 have already surfaced. One of the most talked about rumor is that Huawei, another popular China-based manufacturer of high-end tablets and smartphones, will be in charge.
Google and Huawei have a history and the Nexus 6P speaks for this. It was a highly rated smartphone with more than decent specs and still one of the best smartphones around to date even being a year old.
With Huawei being drawn in the big picture, there's a very good chance that the next Nexus 7 will be a feature-packed tablet, less the Nexus brand. The former already had 3GB RAM, 2560p resolution with a very huge PPI of 518.
It is run by an Snapdragon 810 chipset, an Octa-core Cortex A53 processor and A57 variant as well with Adreno 430 GPU.
We could be seeing a 4GB RAM, 4K display and even faster processing speeds, though there aren't any solid sources yet if these figures are to be believed.
Rumors about Google dropping the Nexus name derives from the leaks about the search engine giant revealing their HTC-built smartphones under Pixel name instead, namely Pixel and Pixel XL.
There's still no price figures for the unannounced Nexus 7 successor, but several rumors suggest that before the year ends, Google may actually reveal its new tablet. Similar to how the Pixel C was launched back in December last year.
The possibility of price leaks may come around in a month or two as the final quarter of the year is just a month away.
Stay tuned for more updates and news about Google's next Nexus 7 tablet or a debut of a new brand name.
