After a no-show at the recent IFA 2016 event in Berlin, the Microsoft Surface phone is now rumored to be released in 2017. Reports claimed that the main reason behind the delay in the release date is the company's plan to include the latest Intel Kaby Lake chipset.

The new processor is expected to be launched by the end of 2016, which has then hinted that the release date of the Microsoft Surface phone might be postponed to next year in March 2017 along with the company's other gadgets like the Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Book 2. However, there is still no official confirmation provide by the technology giant about the release date of the device.

Apart from the release date rumors, reports hinted that the upcoming Microsoft Surface phone is expected to sport many excellent specs and features like huge display, Carl Zeiss lens, large storage space, and huge RAM In order to give you an overview of what to expect from the device, we have jotted down all the rumored specs.

It is stated that the new Microsoft Surface phone will consist of a 5.7-inch screen along with AMOLED display panel. In terms of performance-related specs, PC Advisor reported that the new Microsoft phone is expected to be launched in three variants depending on their RAM and the storage capacity with a powerful Kaby Lake processor.

It is stated that the basic Surface Phone model will have a 3 GB RAM and storage of 32GB whereas another one will come with a 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage option. The third and the largest variant is expected to be equipped with a 8 GB RAM and500 GB storage. 

Additionally, the Microsoft Surface phone's rumored 21-megapixel Carl Zeiss lens rear and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera will include a triple LED flash. Reports claimed that the device will also consist of a USB Type-C port for faster data transfers and fast charging support.

In terms of software, the Surface phone is expected to run on the latest Windows 10 build codenamed as Redstone 2, which is rumored to provide the Microsoft users with an exceptional user interface. The base variant of the smartphone rumored to be priced for $700, while the premium variant might be made available for $1,099.
