'Final Fantasy 7 Remake': Battle System Will Both Be Action-Oriented And Traditional, Tetsuya Nomura Says
J RoseAfter a long silence, director Tetsuya Nomura finally gives more information about its highly anticipated "Final Fantasy 7 Remake."
In an interview with Dengeki Playstation (translated by KH13.com), Nomura said that while the battle system in the remake is more action-oriented, the team is looking for ways for the battles to appeal to players who wanted the old-school battle system feels.
"We've heard a lot of fans also say that they want to play the game with the original ATB style, but for the remake we're proceeding toward an action-heavy style, Nomura said. "Of course, we've added systems that future fans will be able to enjoy, so people who are bad at action-style battles, please don't worry."
"For those who excel at action-style battles, we're working to make this a system that's different than what you've used before and can still enjoy," Nomura added.
Nomura has also said that the team is planning something special to commemorate the 20th anniversary of "Final Fantasy 7" next year. The original was relased on the PlayStation in Jan. 31, 1997.
However, the "Final Fantasy 7" director said that there is so many things going on in the studio right now, with the upcoming release of "World of Final Fantasy," the highly anticipated "Final Fantasy XV" and the latest "Kingdom Hearts" remaster "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8."
"Like with the 15th anniversary of ['Kingdom Hearts'], I'm thinking I'd like to plan something or other," the director said. "It's just that, since we've been keeping busy with productions, including the game ['World of Final Fantasy'] that I showcased today, I don't think I will be able to share any new news until after things calm down."
The "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" which was announced with much fanfare at the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo is currently in development.
