Xbox Backwards Compatibility Brings Complete 'Bioshock' Trilogy; Is The Remastered Collection Still Worth It?
C. de LacyMicrosoft adds a huge franchise to Xbox One and its backwards compatibility. Those who have missed the Xbox 360 versions of the "Bioshock" trilogy will get a chance to play them on Xbox One and this covers all three of them.
The "Bioshock" trilogy is possibly one of the most requested series to be added on to the Xbox One backwards compatibility and it just happened as shown on Xbox One's official backwards compatibility page. "Bioshock," "Bioshock 2" and "Bioshock Infinite" are now officially part of the Xbox 360 games list that can be played on the Xbox One.
The three games have been always requested for some time now, though there are speculations that they weren't added right away to simply give some way for the "Bioshock Remastered Collection" specifically for the Xbox One and PC.
Due to this, there may be some confusion as to why anybody would get the Xbox 360 version for the Xbox One and not the "Bioshock: The Collection," which was specifically for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It can be remembered that only players of the PC version will get the free visual upgrade of "Bioshock: The Collection," while console players will still have to purchase the game disc.
"Bioshock: The Collection" is currently priced at $59.99 and this includes all three games, all the DLCs, extra content and some optional developer commentaries in-game. Purchasing the 360 versions will range from $19.99 - $29.99 per title and this is without the DLCs and clearly without the graphical upgrade even when run on the Xbox One.
The only incentive that players may find in playing the 360 version is by simply playing the physical 360 disc if they can borrow one or if they own one or all the three games as they can now be played without any problems. Otherwise, getting the remastered edition might be a smarter move, especially for newcomers who have already been used to today's visual norms of videogames.
Stay tuned for more updates and news on Xbox One Backwards compatibility.
