Elon Musk Ushers In A New Era For Self Driving Automobiles; CES 2017 Will Feature Some Of Them; Also Watch Out For The Infiniti QX50

Tesla visionary Elon Musk is starting 2017 with a much anticipated Autopilot update to the car company's newer vehicles. Tesla's CEO announced the update via his official Twitter handle on the first day of 2017.

His announcement ushers in a new age for the automobile industry. 2017 will bring automation and Autopilot nearer and nearer to automobile consumers.

According to Henrik Christensen, kids that are born today will be not be driving cars in the future. The Director of the Contextual Robotics Institute at UC San Diego notes that vehicle automation is just 10-15 years away.

In the past, the surging trend for eco-vehicles has pushed car manufacturers to invest in the future of driving. Tesla and other car companies have unveiled distinct vehicles that changed the landscape for eco-friendly cars.

Tesla's Model 3, Model S, and Model X vehicles are starting to get the public's attention. The Toyota Prius and the Nissan Leaf are not far behind.

Decades ago electric cars were not viewed as the future of clean transport. Things have changed since then; we are now officially on the e-car era. 2017 will surely be the year for autonomous driving and CES 2017 will give consumers a sneak peek at what to expect in the next years.

In a post by CNET, Hyundai is prepping up for the future for a self-driving version of its new Ioniq sedan for the Consumer Electronics Show. The Korean car manufacturer programmed this version of the Ioniq to drive conservatively. Giving riders a safe experience despite a boring run.

Car tech supplier Delphi has also provided information about its self-driving demonstration for CES. An Audi SQ5 will be rigged with Delphi sensors to show participants how car automation works.

One of the highlights of Delphi's exhibition features a tunnel drive where a GPS signal fails. The company will also showcase its new partnership with Mobileye.

Despite Infiniti's absence for CES 2017, the car company has recently unveiled the Infiniti QX50. Although it's not an electric vehicle, the SUV features autonomous driving capabilities and a new variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engine.

Details for the Infiniti QX50 will be discussed more for the upcoming Detroit Motor Show on January 8. Although the companies are pushing Autopilot capabilities to its max potential, they have always reminded consumers that it's still important to concentrate your attention behind the wheel.
