Nokia Plans To Release As Many As 7 Smartphones This Year Including Two Versions Of The D1C
Cris Xander JulianoNokia is going to catch up with other smartphone companies as it plans to release six to seven smartphones for this year alone by HMD Global, the company that manufactures Android Phones under the Nokia brand, according to a report by GSM Arena. Initial plans were just five, including two in early second quarter.
It was reported that Nokia plans to release smartphones in every pricing category, from low-end devices to premium flagships, including two more versions of the Nokia D1C which is under the low-end category. We may not see Nokia in the Consumer Electronics Show this year; however, it might reveal its lineup of smartphones in the upcoming Mobile World Congress scheduled on Feb. 27, 2017.
According to a report by Nokia Power User, the announcement was made via a slide show presentation by a Malaysian distributor Avaxx, about upcoming Nokia Android phones that revealed as many as seven phones may be launched in 2017.
HMD Executives points out competitive pricing for its upcoming Nokia smartphones, as well as collaboration with Google to make its devices a clean Android experience, perhaps lessening inappropriate bloatwares.
HMD Global is working on two premium Nokia flagships and two variants of the Nokia D1C, which is probably the first Nokia phone to come from HMD along with the Nokia E1. Both smartphones are under the low and mid-range pricing and may be unveiled in MWC 2017.
Nokia is not the phone giant it once was just a few years ago. The company hopes to turn things around with the integration of its new Android OS to make it more attractive to users.
