'Vapor': Misfit Smartwatch Review - Ready to Contend with Apple, Samsung at Half the Price!
RommelVapor, Misfit's first Smartwatch, has just been released and it is looking like it is going to compete with Samsung and Apple Smartwatches this coming 2017. Recently, Vapor had been going for the screenless fitness trackers and smart analog watches but now, they released a full touchscreen watch. For the first time ever, it is not running Android Wear and it is expected that there are some lows in terms of software experience, but overall, this new Smartwatch looks really polished.
Vapor Review: Simple yet Classy. Known for simplicity and sophistication, Misfit incorporates it in the Vapor which has a fully circular 1.39-inch AMOLED screen with a sleek metal watch case and silicon strap. It comes with a rosy gold and black case with a single power and back button on the side. It is not that thick for a Smartwatch but looks really good for both males and females. Bands can easily be switched due to Misfit's patented button system. The normal pin mechanism used to switch straps is changed to two little round button-like pegs in this Misfit Smartwatch. However, this means you can only buy straps from Misfits but it is less daunting task to do as well.
Vapor Software, Touchable Bezel: This is a modern approach to the Smartwatch and Misfit admits that they are only at the early stages of developing their software and it is far from final. For now, the broad strokes look phenomenal. Upon tapping the watch face, cool animations can be seen such as ring of fire dance circling the edge of the bezel telling you how far you are from your target. There are also small icons that trigger the apps such as weather, music and more - all accessible with a press at the side of the button.
Advantages and Disadvantages: The Good - Attractive design, affordable price of $200, zippy processing, heart rate and fitness monitoring, circular navigation. The Bad - software is still not super polished and not available until late 2017. Watch Digital Trends' review here:
