BMW Moves Towards A Bright Future With HoloAcive Touch Controls
Ralphy Bonn SimBMW claimed last year that they will bring some holographic control interface to CES. This technology is called HoloActive Touch that establishes a floating graphic over the console.
These graphics is known to produce typical binary buttons like on and off. It has a screen that can be controlled using a finger's touch. This feature was displayed at BMW's Inside Future concept launch. The finger touch is confirmed by a slight vibration every time a screen is touched. Its system reacts properly and accordingly.
During the demo, different phone calls notified a full image of a person with stunning graphics that are clear and detailed.
The HoloActive Touch is not an impossible technology to achieve. It has three main factors: a camera, speaker and a projector. The camera captures all motions of pointing to the graphics. It perceives gestures and activates relevant feedback into the system, just like watching and stopping a movie. The projector relies in a panel console and creates images that appear to float in the air.
A subsonic speaker is equipped at the console that produces impulse when it is touched; the user feels a feedback every time they touch something. An impressive pulse is "sensed" from the user's finger tips when it is touches the floating graphic.
HoloActive is considered to be a future from its modern iDrive control system, as claimed by BMW Company. In addition, the iDrive control system let drivers appoint navigations and audios in digital form unlike any other cars.
BMW's HoloActive Touch is still considered a concept. A company spokesperson claimed that the company invested a lot of effort and money to make this concept a reality. This HoloActive Touch concept is predicted to be available in the next couple of years.
