Galaxy S8 Specs: 3 Things Expected To Arrive In Samsung’s Next Flagship, As Hinted By Galaxy S7’s Nougat Update

Samsung has just started rolling out the Galaxy S7 Android 7.0 update, letting owners experience what Nougat "tastes" like. In the same way 2015's GS6 Marshmallow beta predicted the UI we would eventually see on the GS7, the recent update provides hints into what to expect from Samsung's next prized possession, the GS8. Having said that, here are some expected Galaxy S8 specs and features from the Korean giant's 2017 flagship.

Brighter Whites Could Mean Lighter UI

Starting from the most obvious, the Nougat update significantly banished the blues, teals and greys of older versions - everything is now blindingly white. It's far from the TouchWiz UI that the Galaxy S6 and S7 housed, which means that the Galaxy S8 is several generations removed from the aggressively colorful UX of the older models.

A Smarter UI

Technically, there's no built-in AI in the GS7 Nougat update, but there are subtle clues that Samsung is pushing for its UI to be more intelligent. Seen on each area of the Settings menu is a "Looking for something else?" section down below, which offers you some related options.

Samsung has also integrated search into more of its apps. It comes with voice search integration. It's not really a far-fetched idea if part of the Galaxy S8 specs and features include a smarter UI and, who knows, maybe its very own AI, now that Samsung has acquired Viv Labs, as reported by the Android Central.

A 4K-Equipped Galaxy S8

The basis for this is Nougat's resolution scaling, which at default is 1080p, not the panel's native res of 1440p. You can rarely see the difference between the two options, but scaling down saves you a lot of power.

Now, Mashable and other publications have reported Galaxy S8 specs and features include a 4K res. If this should happen, the same idea could be applied. Obviously, it's not a very bright idea to enable 4K mode all the time. Instead, users have the option to scale the res down, reserving 4K for video applications or for VR.
