NBC has confirmed that “This Is Us” has been renewed, not for just one, but for two more seasons. According to the President of NBC Entertainment, Jennifer Salke, the series turned out to be a “hit show.”

“‘This Is Us’ is as good as anything we have ever had,” she said in a statement, as seen on Entertainment Tonight. “There is no doubt it will have a long life on NBC. In a world where there are literally hundreds of television dramas, we are proud to have one of the very best that is also one of the highest-rated.”

The network was more than generous with the information provided at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. “This Is Us” fans were even treated to a quick sneak peek into next week’s episode. However, the footage that was shown will seemingly not give the fans’ tear ducts a break.

The clip showed first-time glimpses of Jack’s funeral through Kate’s memories of the past. Kate, played by Chrissy Metz, attended a drum-therapy session, which made her remember some key moments in her past - one of which was the funeral held for Jack, played by Milo Ventimiglia.

That said, “This Is Us” creator Dan Fogelman informed the press that next week’s episode will be a “big” one. “There is a before and after to this family - before Jack and after,” he said. When pressed about more details regarding Jack’s death, Fogelman only replied, “You will learn when, and then, much later, how.”

Although this could easily be the biggest “This Is Us” plot twist by far, Fogelman has revealed that they “have a lot” coming. “Our theme is, ‘Life will surprise you a little bit,’” he said, according to #mce_temp_url#. “We know where this series is going and how we are going to keep people on their toes.”
