'Red Dead Redemption 2' Leaks: Can Rockstar Games' Fans Expect RDR2 By October 20?
Rei LantionRockstar Games has yet to give fans a specific release date for "Red Dead Redemption 2" but UK retailer Gameseek may have beaten them to the punch. The company lists October 20, 2017 as the official release date for "RDR 2", a date which, many would agree, seems highly plausible.
Based on promotional material sent out to major game retailers, "Red Dead Redemption 2" is slated for official release by autumn this year, which gives credence to a late October release. However, other speculated dates line up with that piece of information as well.
According to International Business Times, another UK retailer, Littlewoods, listed October 2 as a viable release date. Without confirmation from Rockstar, both dates remain dedicated guesswork at best.
But now that two UK retailers have "leaked" supposed release dates, fans are entirely hopeful for an October release. An October 2 launch may seem a bit too early. Express UK reports, for a game as highly anticipated as this, it may very well work out in RDR2's favor. It points out that an earlier launch would give people a chance to snatch it up before heavy hitters like "Stars Wars: Battlefront 2" and "Call of Duty" are released.
Retailer leaked dates are given so much weight by the fanbase because they apparently have to be in the know. According to the RDR2 website, retailers need to know these dates beforehand in order to prepare for storefront displays, shelf-space and other in-store marketing features. Given that competition between retailers has grown increasingly fierce, knowing the release date well before everyone else is a definite advantage.
The RDR2 website also reports that Rockstar Games is likely to release more official information regarding "Red Dead Redemption 2" as its draw nearer to the actual date. Pre-orders for the open-world action-adventure masterpiece are currently ongoing and showing no signs of stopping-proof that "Red Dead Redemption 2" is indeed one of 2017 most anticipated games.
