'Overwatch' News Update: Bastion Is Getting A Much-Needed Overhaul; Changes To Sentry Mode, Self-Repair Abilities & More
Nicole T."Overwatch" has been buffing its characters lately and spoiling fans with recent updates. Although some issues and glitches remain, Blizzard continues to provide regular game support to the almost 25 million players. This time around, the work will be done for Bastion.
Bastion, the turret bot that every gamer once feared, had its sudden downfall when the players of "Overwatch" discovered how to counter it. Since then, it had fallen down the popularity ladder. Various characters of "Overwatch" have acquired their own changes over the past weeks. Blizzard has now turned their attention to the robot.
This could be due to a post that was written by a player named Rarithlynx. Polygon reported that the player wrote earlier this month that Bastion is long overdue for a buff. The player has been spending his "Overwatch" career carrying Bastion, and so he has pointed out the major difficulties of playing the robot.
According to Kotaku, "Overwatch" principal designer Geoff Goodman has talked about the upcoming changes that will be done to Bastion. The main changes will happen with Bastion's core abilities, as well as with his recon mode. For that, they will lower the spread and increase the magazine size, making the change viable.
There will also be changes to Bastion's sentry mode. "Overwatch" developer Blizzard is planning on making it a "tank-buster and barrier-buster mode." They are also looking to increase the spread on this certain mode and removing the headshot.
Lastly, there will also be changes with the bot's self-repair ability. Apparently, this will have the biggest change out of all the others.
"Currently our internal build has Bastion able to use Self-Repair while moving and also having it no longer interrupted when taking damage," Goodman said. "To balance that out it is now on a resource system (similar to the route D.Va's defense matrix went)."
Having these changes, every Bastion-player could soon play the character more effectively. "Overwatch" players could experience the changes in Bastion soon as it's coming to the game's PTR.
