Both the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are expected to have the Google Assistant soon. This is said to be part of the next big update for the Nexus devices.

Major update for Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P

Indian Express reported that Google's Stephen Hall has relayed the plan to include the Google Assistant for the Google Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. Though there is no specific date mentioned, Hall said it will come with the update for the handsets.

The feature, which has earlier been made available to the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, is said to be a change of strategy for Google now that it is offering it for Nexus handsets, Mashable added. The brand also said during the release of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL that the Google Assistant will be exclusive to the two phones to make it stand out among other handsets.

Pixel features for Nexus

However, things seem to have changed with Google's recent decision to bring a Pixel feature to the Nexus. But this is not the first time that the company introduced a Pixel highlight to another line since the fingerprint swipe, which makes navigating through notifications easier, was also copied from the Pixel to the Nexus.

Users and fans of Google smartphones are still hoping that the Google Assistant feature will be made available to more models so as not to limit what customers can do on their phones. Many would also be encouraged to buy Google phones and devices if users are given a variety of options for their devices.

Breakthrough digital assistant

In addition, Indian Express said that the goal of Google Assistant is to make a digital assistant that is better and more helpful that Apple's Siri and Microsoft's Cortana. Google said they also envision a future where the Assistant will not just be a single person.
