NVIDIA Shield TV 2017 Review: The Best Alternative Way To Play Android Games And Stream Movies! [Video]
Cris Xander JulianoSometimes streaming movies or playing Android games on your mobile device is unsatisfying due to its small screen and touch screen controls. Luckily, NVIDIA released the Shield TV that offers the same capabilities, except it brings the experience to your TV. If you're interested to know about the device, check out its review here by Android Authority.
NVIDIA made a few upgrades to its Shield TV 2017 while keeping its appealing design and it is now slimmer than the previous model. The device has all the ports that you may need for connectivity such as an Ethernet port for wired internet access, two USB ports that may be used to charge the Shield Controller and to connect an external storage, and an HDMI port. The device only comes with a 16 GB of internal storage so you may want to take advantage of the extra USB port to add more memory.
The remote control of the device is pretty much the same from the previous model except for the large microphone button that will trigger voice search for the Google Assistant. The remote now has a touch sensitive area that lines the bottom half where you can slide your finger up and down for increasing or decreasing the volume.
The Shield TV comes with the Shield Controller which is smaller compared to the previous model. The buttons are similar to the PS4's controller but uses the A, B, X, Y face buttons much like the Xbox. The NVIDIA button in the center will trigger the Google Assistant.
When the device is hooked up to your TV, you're good to go. This device is particularly recommended for retro gaming that is available on Android. You will find it very convenient using a controller instead of touch screen controls while playing Android games on your TV.
