Why Twenty One Pilots Received Grammy’s 2017 Award In Underwears

Twenty One Pilots surprised Grammy's 2017 audience and home viewers when the duo took off their pants before hitting the stage to accept the Best Pop Duo or Group Performance Award. Scoring their first Grammy Award for the song "Stressed Out," Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun took the opportunity to inspire more artists to dream after explaining why they had to receive the award in their underwears.

As it turned out, Tyler and Josh had an interesting conversation while watching the Grammy's in their underwears back when they were just fans and were nobody to the Entertainment or Music industry. Josh told Tyler that if one day they get the chance to bring home a Grammy, they have to receive the award in their underwears, Buzzfeed reported.

The duo stayed true to their promise, which was once just a dream. So now, Twenty One Pilots aims to inspire more people to believe that anyone could do anything and those who were merely watching the Grammy's today could be the next to receive an award too.

Twenty One Pilots' "Stressed Out" won the Best Pop Duo or Group Performance Award over The Chainsmokers and Haley' "Closer," Sia and Sean Paul's "Cheap Thrills," Rihanna and Drake's "Work" and Lukas Graham's "7 Years." As per a report by Forbes, "Stressed Out" is the duo's biggest and true breakout hit, making it less surprising to see them win the Grammy for the particular song.

Apart from their first Grammy Award, Twenty One Pilots was also nominated in the category Record of the Year for the same song. Another hit called "Heathens," on the other hand gave the duo a nomination for Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Song Written For Visual Media.

Twenty One Pilots achieved a breakthrough success in 2015 for their album "Blurryface." Since then, Tyler and Josh continued hitting the top charts, which apparently made it possible for them to win their first Grammy.
