Activision Employees Fired Despite Good Financial Report; Here's Why

Activision recently confirmed a massive shaving or lay-off of employees across some of its companies, taking jobs away from a number of people. Sadly, the reason behind it still looks quite misunderstood and rather uncanny.

According to Kotaku, Activision decided to take out its staff from Infinity Ward and Beenox. Internal studio and corporate office members were relieved of their services, even after proving their businesses to be successful financially.

The reports stated that over 5 percent of the ActiVision Publishing company workforce was taken out, but there are those still left untouched like Blizzard Entertainment and MLG. The publishing leg is part of Activision-Blizzard, made up of multiple studios all over North America, composed of the previously named Infinity Ward, Beenox and Treyarch. Unfortunately, one of the teams that were affected by the action is known for a game popular in today's generation --"Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare."

Infinity Ward is responsible for the said game which, although had the makings of a hit, let go of 20 people. It was said that despite the highly satisfactory performance of the company, the numbers are still considered inadequate. The statistics went better than expected, even logging a record fourth quarter. However, the publisher admitted a thin slate for 2017 with "Destiny 2" and another "Call of Duty" title being the haymakers of the year.

The simple explanation that Activision gave is that they intend to balance out their counts of manpower at some point, especially with the growing gaming industry. "Activision Publishing is realigning resources to support our upcoming slate and adapt to the accelerating transition to digital, including opportunities for digital add-on content," the company explained.

Activision was founded in October 1, 1979. The company continues to update its titles in an appraisable, consistent manner, while making class titles to follow up on their franchises on the three major console platforms: the Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
