'Legends of Tomorrow' Season 2 Finale Teases Tolkien's Appearance and the Return Of Laurel Lance

"Lord of the Rings" and Laurel Lance/ Black Canary fans will both have something to look forward to in the "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 finale. In the episode "Aruba," which will air on April 4, famed author J.R.R. Tolkien and Laurel Lance will reportedly make an appearance.

According to Movie Pilot, the "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 has put out all the stops to outdo the "already enjoyable" episodes from the first season. In Season 2, the time-travelling superheroes have exhausted all their resources to locate the Spear of Destiny, reunite with Rip Hunter, and stop the plans of the Legion of Doom.

Marc Guggenheim, the show's Executive Producer, has recently tweeted a cast list for "Aruba," the seventeenth episode of  Season 2. It looks like the "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 finale will be an "explosive" episode since it might feature a showdown between the Legion and the Legends. The cast list also includes John Barrowman.

Wentworth Miler, who portrays Captain Cold, and Katie Cassidy (Laurel Lance) will also be featured in "Aruba." Cassidy's character Laurel was killed off in "Arrow" Season 4, and fans of the feisty woman were not happy. The character has returned to the show, albeit in a flashback, in a dream sequence, and as her evil doppelganger from Earth-2, Black Siren.

Hopefully, this means that Cassidy will finally portray the beloved character instead. Things look bright for Laurel's return because her sister Sara has spent most of Season 2 trying to bring her back from the dead. There is a chance that Sara will use the Spear of Destiny to save Laurel.

Aside from Laurel's possible return, "Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" creator J.R.R. Tolkien will also show up in "Aruba." The author will be portrayed by Jack Turner ("Stitchers"), per Screen Crush.

His role in the "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 finale has yet to be revealed, but fans can be sure that it will be as memorable as Matt Angel's ("Grimm") portrayal of a young George Lucas. Lucas has created the beloved sci-fi franchise "Star Wars."
