Xiaomi's Mi 6 has not been spared from rumors and leaks. Details about the upcoming flagship smartphone's launch and specifications recently surfaced on Weibo. Let's take a gander at what the leaks suggest.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will pack Snapdragon 821 processor at first. The handset was originally rumored to come with the latest Snapdragon 835 processor, but a report from TheIndianExpress suggests it will be equipped with the slightly older Snapdragon 821 instead.

Xiaomi will debut a higher-end variant of the Mi 6 that may feature a Snapdragon 835 processor, but that's unlikely to come to fruition anytime soon, according to a recently surfaced Weibo leak (via GizmoChina). Interestingly, this shred of information comes amidst reports of Samsung stockpiling Snapdragon 835 processor for its long-rumored Galaxy S8 smartphone, which launched Wednesday, March 29.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Release Date

Xiaomi Mi 6 was scheduled to hit the store shelves early next month, but its launch has been pushed back to May citing the shortage of the Snapdragon 835 processor, which, AndroidPure claim will be up for grabs only after April. If this report is anything to go by, it also explains why several other handset makers are resorting to Snapdragon 821 rather than choosing to use the newfangled Snapdragon 835.

As a result, LG will be sticking to the older Snapdragon chipset for its G6 smartphone, while Sony Xperia XZ Premium's launch has been pushed back. Other reports claim the Mi 6 will be available in two variants, both of which will have Snapdragon 835 processor. No doubt, that would be ideal; however, this does not coincide with previously previous rumors that indicated the device will come in three variants on April 11.

Xiaomi Mi 6 & Mi 6 Plus Specifications & Features

While the Mi 6 will reportedly sport a 5.15-inch Full HD screen, it's bigger sibling, the Mi 6 Plus will feature a 5.7-inch screen. Both models will be running Android 7.0 Nougat with MIUI 8 atop. The devices will pack quad-core Snapdragon 835 processor, which will be clocked at 2.45GHz, and this will be coupled with Adreno 540 GPU.

Xiaomi Mi 6 will come with 4GB and 6GB RAM options and 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage options. The Mi 6 Plus, on the other hand, will pack 6GB of RAM with 64GB, 128GB ROM options.

On the photography front, the Mi 6 is likely to sport a 19MP main camera and an 8MP front shooter for selfies. It offers a Dual-SIM slot with support for nano SIM cards.

The device will pack a 3,200mAh battery. The Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus will boast a 12MP dual rear camera setup with an 8MP front camera. It is backed by a robust 4,500mAh.
